After Supes 3, Chris Reeves–respectively–almost did not do a fourth Superman film (originally scheduled for 1988 instead of 1987) if it wasn’t for a sweet deal he made with Golan Globus (film company that helped boost Jean Claude VanDam’s career & bought the Superman rights from Warner Bros.). Deal: Chris Reeve would DO Supes 4 in exchange for Golan Globus financing & producing Reeve’s screenplay–not sure but I think the 1987 movie STREET SMART was one of them (co-starred Morgan Freeman).

you found THAT the most unlikely thing??
lol, the thing i found unlikely was he forces oil out of the sea and back into the oil tanker,
THEN the oil defies gravity and stays in the boat and doesnt releak back out
THEN uses heat vision to weld the boat without blowing the oil tanker up, lol
